Don’t Mess with the Best

Don’t Mess with the Best

Starting to Twitter

I have been all a-Twitter for the past 24 hours. I've discovered a new online toy and its changed the way that I access the stuff that I love.

For example, I had previously signed up to a million and one newsletters or email alerts from sites that have captured my imagination - much the same as magazines once did about 20 years ago. The problem with that is the million or so emails that clutter my inbox each morning. It takes me ages to wade through and I hardly have time to open most of them anyway. A total waste of time, effort and interest.

Twitter, on the other hand, allows me to follow the sites that I love within one special space that feels a bit like a decorated-to-my-personality-specifications living room. I have chosen the background and the friends to welcome into my space. I follow a combination of my favourite essential sites and my favourite essential people (at least those who have found their way to Twitter). I receive all of my site updates on my Twitter page and then choose which ones to devote time to throughout my day.

It's so perfect.

And it's amazing who you can find on Twitter. I'm currently twittering the husband and wife team of Demi Moore, who is godmother to Soleil Moonfrye, and Ashton Kutcher, who is researching a new movie about the CIA. Demi and Ashton meet for lunch on Tuesdays and Soleil, a mother of two and eco-baby clothing entrepreneur, just joined Twitter today. I'm closer to the action than I ever was or could be reading a trashy weekly women's magazine. Oh, and Mischa Barton corrects the scandalous articles that are written about her via Twitter which links to her blog. So it works for the celebrity and the celebrity-interested.

I've also discovered that there's someone out there who could pen a send-up version of The Devil Wears Prada, so fabulous is his or her Anna Wintour Twitter page. It has proven to be one of my true delicious finds on Twitter to date (but it's only been a day!)

Signing off to Twitter.
